Looking for a Norwich handyman? Try me, the NR2 Handyman! Get in touch for all your home improvement and garden maintenance needs. I'm insured, DBS checked and a licensed waste carrier. I have over 20 years' experience in home maintenance and gardening services. I work in NR2 as much as possible, partly to cut down on travel time but also to get to know people in our local area, my family and I being fairly new to Norwich. Find out more about me.
The customer needed some secure storage for bikes and tools at their house on College Road. I removed a section of lawn, levelled the ground, and built a timber frame to sit on spare pavers over a weed barrier membrane. Once the shed was built, I created a decorative pebble edging drip-tray to finish. This is the second Tiger shed I've built and they are excellent value for money.
Hung a HUGE vintage mirror for a customer in NR2: 5' x 4' (150 x 120 cm), and probably 30 kg plus... I arrived to find it was going on a stud wall, i.e. plasterboard! Not to fear: I reached for a handful of trusty Toggler® Snaptoggle plasterboard anchors (nine of them, in fact) - the only fixings I trust for something of this size and weight.
This customer's garden path had become completely overgrown, with most of the old gravel displaced by weeds, earth and torn weed membrane. I cleared the beds to either side and replanted with bee-friendly plants - hebes, lavendar, aliums - then stripped the path, securing loose edging bricks, before relining with heavy-duty weed fabric and laying new gravel.
The side return of an Edwardian house in Norwich is never going to look like a Tuscan courtyard, but with a bit of time and elbow-grease I can transform yours from a damp hiding place for garden tat into a clean, tidy and useful space. I did just that for a repeat customer on College Road in NR2. Watch till the end!
I transformed this former drab home office into a colourful spare room for a customer in Heigham Grove. Filled and sanded dozens of holes, put up wall panelling to make a space-saving headboard, painted throughout, and finally added wall-mounted lamps and pictures. I returned a few months later to add and paint some Shelfbar shelving - an excellent system which I have installed a few times now.
I arrived thinking that this tired old porch just needed some minor filling and a lick of paint. Turns out both window sills were completely rotten! Not to worry: a quick trip to the excellent Cushions and we were back in business. Don't go anywhere else for timber in Norwich! Used Zinsser Allcoat on both the timber and brickwork - absolutely bombproof exterior paint which will last these happy customers years.
